THE GENTRY FAMILY

Kendall and Nancy Gentry came to Skagit Valley from Alaska in the early 1970s, when Kendall was assigned to a local church as Associate Pastor. The Gentries decided to put down roots in the area, and in 1979, they started Landed Gentry as a small real estate sales \and brokerage company. As the company has grown, so has their commitment to building a strong and vital community, and the entire Gentry family has contributed generously of their time and profits to this end.

Kendall was instrumental in bringing Habitat for Humanity to Skagit County, serving on the Board of Directors for many years. He still consults with the board frequently, and Landed Gentry supports the organization in many ways.

Nancy Gentry, a Registered Nurse, has dedicated much of her life to seniors and senior issues. She is the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Skagit Hospice Foundation, and was involved in bringing Adult Day Care to Skagit Valley.

The Gentry’s son, Brian, and daughter, Kendra Gentry-Decker, are both graduates of Leadership Skagit, a program designed to train and develop leaders at all levels in the community, and they still participate in the program as volunteers. Kendra contributes her time to plan new courses and curriculum.

Brian is a big supporter of the Boys and Girls Club in Skagit Valley, having served on the Board of Directors in the past, and continuing to use Landed Gentry resources to participate in fundraising events whenever possible. He was also the President of the Skagit and Island Counties Builders Association in 2006, and leads Landed Gentry in their support of that organization.

As a company, Landed Gentry contributes time and money to many worthy other local organizations, including the Mt. Vernon Christian School, the Burlington Library (where they recently sponsored a new meeting room), and Skagit Land Trust (where they were major donors in the March’s Point Heron Rookery Project).
